Midwifery

PROVIDING CARE DURING AND AFTER PREGNANCY AND SUPPORTING WOMEN TO MAKE INFORMED CHOICES ABOUT THEIR OWN CARE AND THAT OF THEIR BABY.

Here in Dorset we look after around 7000 women and their families each year, and their needs are always at the forefront of the care we provide.

Women and their partners have a choice of where they can have their babies. Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals (midwife led), Poole Hospital (consultant led) and Dorset County Hospital (midwife led) all provide maternity services and support home births.

There are different opportunities for midwives in Dorset, such as, working within our midwifery led pathway, or taking a role within Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).
