The strategic leadership for AHP’s in Dorset is offered by the Dorset AHP council whose membership comprises of some of the most senior and influential AHP’s across Dorset representing a range of professions.

The AHP Council is chaired by the Dorset ICS AHP Lead Hilary Hall and its purpose is to support the delivery of the Dorset Integrated Care System  (ICS) and through collaborative working will aim to achieve the following;

  • Oversight of the development by the Dorset AHP Faculty of the AHP section of the Dorset People Plan.

  • Providing a hub of AHP expertise and advice for existing AHP services as well as new emerging ones in health and care including those within primary care and the voluntary sector.

  • To support local commissioning decision making regarding AHP’s, the services they offer and how they can deliver future care across the ICS.

  • Raising the profile of the AHP workforce to maximise their contribution to transformed health and care service.

  • Ensure a collective approach to supporting the ICS priorities promoting collaborative rather than competitive or isolated working amongst AHP services.

  • Stronger partnerships across all key stakeholders and a strengthened profile, influence and involvement in national, ICS, place and local level for AHPs.

  • AHPs leading transformation of care pathways particularly delivering more services in community settings.

  • More consistent and robust evidence and benchmarking that better demonstrate the value and impact of AHP services for meeting population and provider needs.

The vision for the Dorset AHP Council is “Improving lives by our Dorset AHP’s working together, driving and influencing innovation”.
