Special interests

Education and training and the partnerships between our health education institutes. I want to foster shared learning opportunities across professions and organisations.

Reducing waste in healthcare– both the waste of time/resource but also the physical waste of plastic in healthcare which is colossal.

Collaborative research with acute healthcare and local education institutes – I’m very enthusiastic in seeking opportunities for new ideas including digital solutions to help us improve the nutritional care we deliver to our patients.

Expertise/other membership/roles

  • Chair the UHD AHP-HCS leads group

  • Chair monthly trust catering multi profession meeting involving dietetics, speech & language therapy – I’m passionate that good hospital food for our patients stays a top priority and that all professions play a role in nutritional care

  • Chair of the Royal Bournemouth Hospital Nutrition Steering Committee Group which is about to merge with Poole Hospitals and become the UHD Nutrition Steering Committee

  • PhD supervisor for a matched funded research project across RBH & BU

  • Member of the British Dietetic Association

  • The AHP council is a great opportunity to learn about the national agenda for AHPs. It’s also a fantastic way to meet leads from other professions, learn and get involved at a strategic level
  • I can then take that learning back to my organisation and influence AHPs to change and evolve. It’s empowered me to promote to trust leads the skills and opportunities that AHP’s can bring to the NHS workforce
  • My ambition for health and care services in Dorset is for our healthcare system to be a shared partnership between all professions including medics, AHPs, nurses and scientists
  • I would love to see many more AHPs working in advanced practice roles supporting services in both the community and acute settings & revolutionising our patient’s experience

I’m keen for stronger partnerships between our education providers and health care providers so that we can improve research opportunities for staff but also help students to get involved early on in direct patient experience and learning thought audit and research.
