Finishing your registrar post? Looking for a supported role within a practice? Looking for an opportunity to develop an area of special interest? Interested in flexible working and having a finite amount of paperwork without overall responsibility for a patient list?
Wyke Regis and Lanehouse surgery are looking for newly or recently qualified GPs to become part of a patient team. Each team consists of a GP Admin assistant, a paramedic practitioner or ANP, a senior GP and a remote working GP to support extra paperwork. Work is therefore varied and involves team meetings, virtual clinics, clinical support for the ANP, cold clinics for pre triaged patients, set administration time, allocated proactive visit time for palliative or complex patients and a share of duty. All efforts are made to ensure work life balance is fulfilled. We can work around childcare commitments and try to facilitate sessions working remotely if this suits the applicant.
We actively encourage applicants to consider linking their job role to the popular Dorset GP fellowship and flex fellowship scheme which provides a protected session a week away from the practice and comes with an external mentor to support development or additional learning. Please see the link for more information. https://primarycaredorset.co.uk/general-practice-fellowship-programmes/
The practice has grown in recent years but retains a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with many long serving staff and a stable patient population. We serve a population of 15,500 in the West of Weymouth over 3 sites. The practice has 2 partners and 5 salaried GPS, 4 paramedic practitioner, 5 ANPS a full nursing team and a large admin team. We make full use of PCN ARRS roles and have access to Community in house physiotherapist and pharmacy teams. Our care home patients are looked after by the Weymouth Elderly care team as are some frail housebound patients. Weymouth has an integrated frailty hub which supports acute social need and has an acute Frail and elderly visiting hub that supports most visit requests coming into the practice.
Weymouth is in an area of Outstanding natural beauty and offers a fantastic quality of life for you and your family. Weymouth has a beautiful old harbour, steeped in history with a vibrant café and restaurant culture. The practice is up the road from the famous Chesil beach and on a good day you can see across the sea to the iconic Durdle door coastline from many parts of the Wyke Regis area. Weymouth beaches are sandy and the waters shallow making them ideal playgrounds for young children. The National Water sports centre, home of the 2012 London Olympics is also just down the road as the conditions are perfect for sailing, kite surfing and windsurfing. Hiking, cycling, sea swimming and triathlon are also popular local sports.
