IT Administrator / Tech & Maintenance Support

Permanent: 20 -25 hours 

A busy, friendly GP surgery is seeking an enthusiastic IT Administrator / Tech & Maintenance Support  person to join our team in Wimborne, Dorset. The role will involve a wide range of IT, administrative and maintenance duties to assist the practice team, including IT system work (hardware and software), general business administration, property maintenance and and general upkeep of the premises.  If you would like a very varied job role within a GP surgery, then this is the opportunity is for you!

Hours of work: 20 -25 hours  – negotiable but to start 0800 / 0830 Monday – Friday

Benefits include: Free parking, some flexitime, NHS pension, occasional overtime

Salary range: dependent on experience

Desired qualifications:

  • Preferable GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English grades A – C

 

Desired skills and qualities:

  • Excellent IT skills both software and hardware skills eg solving computer/printer problems
  • Excellent communication skills eg explaining IT solutions to non-experts
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience of basic building maintenance /practical skills needed
  • Punctual and reliable

Specific duties may include:

  • IT system work – learning and interrogating the medical system (SystmOne); compiling, running and submitting various IT reports, collating and inputting patient questionnaires, updating staff access to IT systems, website updates, supporting new starters
  • Solving health and safety issues ie routine safety checks and maintenance eg legionella testing, checking emergency lights, basic maintenance duties, contacting external maintenance companies (plumbers, gardeners, electricians) as directed; some heavy lifting of furniture may be involved at times
  • Sorting day to day problems eg CCTV footage, keys, taps, lightbulbs, boiler etc
  • Providing back up to cleaner eg visiting shops, washing up, restocking washrooms on an ad hoc basis

Vocational Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs A-C or equivalent (including English and Maths)
  • Typing/IT qualifications
  • A recognised qualification in office, administration or business-related subjects
Experience
  • Extensive IT experience including Microsoft Office; running reports
  • IT hardware maintenance (eg troubleshooting and fixing computer/printers)
  • Office skills (eg filing, reports, general admin)
  • Practical / basic building maintenance (eg checking and fixing lighting)
  • Office experience
Knowledge/
