Dorset HealthCare is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Band 6 Podiatrist to work in the Bournemouth and Christchurch area. This is a permanent, full time post, 37.5 hours per week. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their autonomy and multidisciplinary working skills.

This is an exciting time to join a growing service providing a range of quality foot care services across Dorset including a specialist diabetic foot clinic in the hospital, community high risk clinics, biomechanics clinics, nail surgery clinics and rheumatology clinics as well as home visit sessions where MDT working is required.

Dorset HealthCare is the main provider of podiatry services across the county. Alongside our community podiatry service we provide a community and hospital diabetic foot care services, rheumatology, MSK, biomechanics and Nail Surgery. Providing podiatry across a range of different care pathways means you get the opportunity to work alongside different teams and provide more holistic and patient centred care.

The successful candidate would work across a range of clinical settings as well as domiciliary and residential homes. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosing, planning and implementation of Podiatric Care to patients with a wide range of clinical needs, including Biomechanics, Diabetes, Rheumatology. They will also be responsible for New Patient Assessments, performing Diabetic Assessment reviews and performing wound management in diabetic and non-diabetic patients .

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills both with your colleagues but also a real enthusiasm for working with this patient group. As we develop the service people we would value people who can work on their initiative with a real ‘can do’ attitude.

We value our staff and seek to provide a strong programme of CPD and development opportunities. The successful candidate would be encouraged to actively participate in service study days, clinician rotations (including hospital diabetes, MSK, biomechanics, rheumatology and nail surgery), regular clinical supervision and team meetings as well as 1:1’s with your line manager. You will be encouraged to develop your own areas of special interest in twice a month as self directed development time

As a community podiatrist based in Bournemouth and Christchurch your work will be focused in the Bournemouth & Christchurch area however occasional travel across the county to cover clinics will be required.

It is essential that you have HCPC registered, are able to work flexibly and are a car driver with access to a car for work purposes.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.

Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
