Dorset HealthCare is the first mental health trust providing community services in the South to be given an Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – and one of only a small handful nationally.

It is an exciting time to join our CAMHS services, our community services are rated Good and our inpatient unit is rated as Outstanding. We have been fast tracked by NHSE to deliver New Care Models providing a closer to home crisis home treatment service. We are also part of the national trailblazer to Deliver Mental Health Support Teams in schools across 3 pilot sites in Dorset. NHSE have commissioned Dorset Healthcare to build a new state of the art 8 bed PICU.

We currently provide the following CAMHS services across Dorset:

  • 6 Community teams
  • 10 Bed adolescent inpatient unit
  • Dedicated CAMHS psychiatric liaison services within 3 acute hospitals -Out of Hours crisis service
  • Discovery college
  • Peer specialists working within our community and inpatient teams

We are also working closely with our local commissioners to develop new and innovative services including a CAMHS retreat to support the emotional health and wellbeing of young people across Dorset.

Our community teams offer a range of individual, family, group and pharmacological interventions depending on the needs of the child, young person and family/carers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Systemic Family Therapistt to join our Bournemouth and Christchurch CAMHS team on a full time, permanent basis . You would be expected to work autonomously providing a highly specialist Family Therapy provision to young people and their families referred to the service, as well as being confident in consultation, supervision and training of colleagues.

The Systemic Family Therapist makes a vital contribution to team discussion and conceptualization of formulation and treatment of our young people and their families who present a range of complex difficulties.

You will hold a clinical caseload and undertake appropriate mental health assessments of children and young people referred to CAMHS. There is an expectation that you will work closely across the multi-agency networks, have excellent communication skills and an ability to build effective multi-agency relationships.

You will join a strong supportive Peer group of Family Therapists in the Trust committed to excellent clinical care, contributing to the ongoing CAMHS transformation agenda, and ongoing professional and personal development.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £40 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments. This will only apply to candidates who are new to the Trust and not internal staff.
