Would you like to make a real difference as a health care assistant? We need female health care assistants to work for a lady who has a learning disability, and a personality disorder and challenging behaviour who lives in her own home in Winton.

As a female health care assistant, your focus will be to provide a person centred approach, advice and encouragement in order to help the individual with evening routines. The lady would need support from staff with her activities during the evening and encouragement with personal hygiene.

Shift work will be required. The shifts are:

Twilight shift with sleep in shift.

The shift starts 17:00 - 22:30 you then go to bed at the home and in the morning the shift will start at 8.00am to 9.00am. This role includes an hourly rate for waking hours at Band 3 and a sleep in payment which is Weekdays £50 and weekend £60 payment.

These are the following sleep in needed:

Week 1 Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Week 2 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

To enable our service users to live the life they require, health care staff will need to have the following characteristics:

  • Good listening skills.
  • Calm and well-balanced personality.
  • Excellent non- verbal communication skills.
  • Have a good sense of humour.
  • Sensible and confident, calm under pressure.
  • Proactive and able to make decisions quickly.
  • Able to follow guidelines and care plans.
  • Must follow and put boundaries in place

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following:-

  • Tolerance of some unusual habits and behaviour, with the ability to divert any behaviour which could lead to danger.
  • The ability to develop good relationships with the service user.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Previous experience of working with people who have a learning disability and some knowledge about mental health problems including personality disorder would be desirable.
  • Ability to recognise and manage risk
  • Must follow and put boundaries in place
