An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Practitioner to join the Bournemouth and Christchurch Core CAMHS team.

The post holders will work 22.5 hours, hold a clinical caseload, predominantly working with young people who present with behaviour that challenges predominantly within the Neurodevelopmental framework of Autistic Spectrum Conditions and ADHD but whom reach threshold for our CAMHS service. The Post holder will be able to provide a range of appropriate, evidence based clinical interventions informed by assessment for this patient group alongside other specialisms within the Multi Disciplinary Team.

Applicants will have some experience in one or more evidence based clinical interventions, have developed engagement skills, be confident working with young people who display behaviour that challenges in a community setting and be focused on working with their families to meet their goals. The post holders will also participate in the team duty system and may be asked to provide crisis support to young people and their families.

There is an expectation that you will work closely across the multi-agency networks, have excellent communication skills and an ability to build effective multi-agency relationships. In return you will receive supervision, support and training to develop your skills and you will work in teams with a strong ethos of team work and effective multi agency working. There may be occasions when the post holder has to observe the young person and family in the home environment in order to offer specific advice.

Dorset HealthCare is the first mental health trust providing community services in the South to be given an Outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – and one of only a small handful nationally.

It is an exciting time to join our CAMHS services, our community services are rated Good and our inpatient unit is rated as Outstanding. We have been fast tracked by NHSE to deliver New Care Models providing a 'closer to home' crisis home treatment service. We are also part of the national trailblazer to Deliver Mental Health Support Teams in Schools across 3 pilot sites in Dorset. NHSE have commissioned Dorset Healthcare to build a new state of the art 8 bed PICU.

We currently provide the following CAMHS services across Dorset:

- 6 Community CAMHS teams

- 10 Bed adolescent inpatient unit

- Dedicated CAMHS psychiatric liaison services within 3 acute hospitals

- Out of Hours crisis service

- Discovery College

- Peer specialists working within our community and inpatient teams

- A newly developed CAMHS Gateway Service

Dorset Healthcare is also responsible for a range of other specialist Children's Services across Dorset, including Forensic CAMHS, Eating Disorder Services, Intellectual Disability Services, and Early Intervention in Psychosis. We are also working closely with our local commissioners to develop new and innovative services including a CAMHS retreat to support the emotional health and wellbeing of young people across Dorset.
