University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust

£25,655 - £31,534 pa/pro rata

Permanent

We recently went into partnership with Bournemouth University and, with the merger of Poole Hospital and Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts, became University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust this is a really exciting time to join us!

Our ambitious multi-million pound plans to develop our sites are well underway, including developing RBH as the major acute and emergency hospital in East Dorset, PH as the major planned care hospital, and ambitious plans for Christchurch to support on-going patient treatment.

Joining UHD gives you the opportunity to enjoy all that Dorset has to offer. Bournemouth is a vibrant university town , and Poole has a large natural harbour and is perfect for water sports or relaxing at a quayside restaurant.

With both the New Forest and Isle of Purbeck on our doorstep, over 7 miles of stunning sandy beaches and coastal paths, we are located within an area of amazing beauty providing a great place for you to achieve your rewarding work life balance.

The future of Emergency Care in Dorset remains exciting, with a major new Emergency site being created in Bournemouth for 2024, which will see it being one of the biggest Emergency Departments on the South Coast. Poole Hospital, will remain as the trauma centre until the new site is built, and will, along with Royal Bournemouth Hospital, be at the forefront of this development with our staff being the cornerstone of the new nursing team in the future.

Combined, the Poole and Royal Bournemouth Emergency Departments see over 200 patients per day, each encompassing all major specialties and Poole was ranked in the top 6 of all Emergency Departments nationally for the standard of care that we deliver. Both sites also run an urgent treatment centre in collaboration with the local primary care service and manage minor injuries from across the conurbation.

Despite being thriving and busy departments we remain a friendly and well-motivated team. Staff Nurses have the opportunity to quickly develop skills in all areas of Emergency Medicine in a supportive environment. New staff can expect to receive training in paediatric emergencies, Resus, minor injuries and triage within the first 18 months of their employment using the Dorset wide Emergency Nurse competency program, which is the first multi-Trust regional emergency nurse program.

We are looking for high calibre individuals with good interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate should relish the challenge of a fast paced and exciting environment whilst wanting to deliver the highest standard of care.

Applicants need to be a Registered Nurse / Registered Children’s Nurse with a minimum of 6 months post registration experience in an acute setting.

Please note: if this post requires you to have a DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the role, on appointment you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed from your salary.
