We are looking for an motivated, innovative and experienced paediatric dietitian to join our team based at University Hospitals Dorset (currently at Poole Hospital site). You may be currently working as band 6 with experience in paediatrics or as a band 7.

The established and well respected paediatric dietetics team of 4 (3.2WTE) offer support to two busy children’s wards and outpatient services. We are a Level 2 centre for Neonatal Intensive Care where this post holder is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced paediatric dietitian to join our team to cover NICU and in conjunction with the rest of the team the general in and outpatient service.

The paediatric dietetic team has specialist posts in gastro, diabetes, and cystic fibrosis and the general ward and out patient work is shared. The dietitians work closely with all members of the paediatric MDT, including community based services such as health visitors and speech and language therapists.

The department in Poole Hospital has 15 dietitians across adult and paediatrics and offers training to A, B and C students on placement. As a senior dietitian within the department, the role will also involve providing support and mentorship to band 5 and 6 dietitians. The dietetic team at Poole also works closely across the wider UHD Trust including the dietitians at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. A clinical services review for Dorset will involve the relocation of services including the paediatric service moving to a brand new, purpose built women’s and children’s unit on the Bournemouth site. Expected completion date is 2024.

This post offers excellent opportunities for professional and personal development. The department is committed to CPD and we offer a wide range of in-house specialist training. You will be involved in regular professional update meetings with a CPD aspect e.g. journal club and our twice yearly Dorset Dietitians Education sessions - a Dorset wide education and networking dietetic opportunity. In addition, the dietetic team is closely integrated with the Speech and Language Therapy Service, and part of Therapy Services, regularly engaging in joint working and shared learning with AHP colleagues.

Flexibility, and good communication, organisation and prioritisation skills are essential to this role. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent team working skills and motivation. This post is advertised as full time, however applications are welcome from suitable candidates looking for part time or flexible hours also.
