‘Providing the excellent care that we would expect for our own families’

Join the HSJ 2018 Highly Commended Trust of the year, to deliver our vision to more than 500,000 people across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. Currently The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (RBCH) includes Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Christchurch Hospital and a Sterile Services Department at Alderney Hospital.

It’s a very exciting time here in Dorset with a recent review kick-starting major improvement to the way healthcare is provided. Among which is the proposed merge with fellow acute hospital Poole Hospital. Our Joint CEO Debbie Fleming is passionate about our collective goal to create a new organisation that is even better, and change how we deliver care in a way that will improve services and deliver better outcomes

It is anticipated that the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will merge in 2020 to form East Dorset Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is a condition of employment that all staff being recruited in the period before merger will work across all sites pre and post-merger

We are looking for experienced midwives with a passion to deliver Antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. Intrapartum care will be in our stand alone birth centre and at home.

Bournemouth Maternity services cared for 2,700 women last year supporting 15% to have intraprtum midwifery led care.We are champions of normality and, in partnership with the obstetricians, advocates for all women during the antenatal period. Due to the nature of the role on calls and a car driver is essential.

We have achieved Outstanding for Well Led in our latest CQC report. We also have an excellent record for staff training and development whilst supporting and encouraging midwives to practice autonomously

From Bournemouth there is easy access to the Dorset countryside and the New Forest renowned for its areas of outstanding natural beauty and the spectacular Jurassic Coast, ideal for sports, sailing and outdoor activities. Our town centre’s location means that we are conveniently situated for public transport. We have fantastic shopping facilities with Castlepoint and Bournemouth town centre. Bournemouth has 2,000 acres of glorious gardens just waiting to be explored. Our stunning coastline not only contains 7 miles of award winning beaches but is full of action all year round as it hosts fantastic events and festivals. These include the Bournemouth Wheels Festival and the annual Bournemouth Air Festival, the biggest event of its kind in the world. This is a fantastic place to live and work.
