Internal Vacancy - Development Role
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and HCPC Registered BMS’s for the post of Biomedical Scientist in the Blood Sciences Department, Dorset County Hospital. The hospital is located in the county town of Dorchester which is eight miles from the coast.

The combined Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry laboratories is embarking on an exciting period of transformation with the introduction of state of the art equipment and up to date LIMS systems. The department provides a wide range of investigations to hospital Consultants and General Practitioners. As a multidiscipline environment the department can offer the successful candidate a role with a more holistic view of blood sciences. The laboratories are approved for HCPC training and are accredited to ISO15189.
The successful applicant will be a current HCPC registered Band 5 BMS who is willing to pursue further study to develop into the band 6 role. It is expected that the successful candidate will remain at band 5 level until they achieve the specialist portfolio qualification and have completed at least 2 years post registration experience and met expected competencies. The successful candidate will have experience in either Biochemistry and/or Haematology/Blood Transfusion. The department operates a combined Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry service and you will be expected to become integrated as a full member of the busy multi-skilled department working flexibly within a 37.5 hour week. The shift system brings an additional payment at agenda for change pay rates.
