An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Specialist Palliative Care/End of Life Care team for a motivated registered nurse with a real commitment and passion for delivering high quality palliative and end of life care. The successful applicant will join the team on either a one year secondment and developmental role (internal applicants) or as a one year fixed term contract (external candidates).

The current Palliative and End of Life service comprises of an experienced and well established team, providing specialist advice and support, 7 days a week. The team also delivers an extensive education programme as well as providing bespoke teaching and mentoring on the wards.

The post will be offered as a band 6 developmental role, for a nurse who wishes to progress their career within the specialty and to gain experiencing working in a busy acute setting as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will:

  • Have a passion for palliative and end of life care, with a real commitment to ensure the patient and those important to them receive individualized care, with dignity and compassion.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with your team members to continue developing the service to ensure delivery of the end of life strategy and key performance indicators
  • Embrace learning and education to support self- development

You will have:

  • NMC registration as a registered adult nurse, with at least five years post-registration experience at either band 5 or above
  • Evidence of working with/supporting patients approaching end of life either within a hospital/hospice or community setting.
  • Evidence of being able to work autonomously, or managing a caseload.
