Virtual Fracture Clinic, Orthopaedic Outpatient Department

Advanced Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Band 7) WTE 2.00

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two highly motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Orthopaedic outpatient department at Dorset County Hospital.

The Outpatient department is currently undergoing relocation and redesign and as such will offer an excellent outpatient service, with excellent clinical facilities for the population of West Dorset, supported by dedicated and skilled staff. As part of the redesign a Consultant-led Virtual Fracture Clinic has been implemented, with bespoke ICT software and we seek autonomous practitioners to lead this project into the future.

We currently review in excess of 11,000 new and follow-up trauma and orthopaedic patients a year in fracture clinic, new patients being triaged through of Virtual Fracture Clinic to ensure they get the right care, at the right time, by the right person. There is also the opportunity to develop the role further in the future with the provision of ANP/ACP led fracture clinic follow-ups clinics, enabling and promoting autonomous clinical practice for the successful candidate.

Improving the Trust’s Outpatient services is a central component of the Trust’s ambitions for improving quality, efficiency and patient experience. We are now seeking an outstanding leader and communicator who will drive improvements to promote exceptional standards of patient care.

The successful candidate will be an experienced practitioner, with significant knowledge relating to Orthopaedic conditions, management and pathways and who can also demonstrate experience of leading teams and promoting quality, professionalism and improvements to patient experience.

We understand that there may be some interest in the role from those that have not yet completed ANP/ACP training, these applications are welcomed and support can be offered to complete this academic training in terms of clinical supervision and funding, the role would attract band 6 salaries until completion of ANP/ACP training.
