We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and clinically skilled Senior Nurse or Allied Health Professional to lead our end of life service at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be expected to exercise a high degree of professional autonomy, make clinical judgements using advanced knowledge and skills in order to provide the highest standard of holistic patient care, whilst developing and practicing within clinical protocols and guidelines.

The post holder will demonstrate a good understanding of the national and local agenda in relation to end of life care in both primary and secondary care and will have recent experience working in the areas of specialist palliative care and/or end of life care and work closely with the Palliative Medicine Consultant.

The post holder will need to have effective leadership skills and recent experience of managing a team as part of this role involves leading and line managing a small team of Palliative Care and End of Life Care Nurses.

The post holder will be expected to play a pivotal role in developing and delivering necessary education within the Trust to ensure all staff are supported to reach fundamental levels of knowledge and skills in relation to end of life care. This is an important element of supporting our staff to deliver high quality end of life care in line with national CQC standards.

The post-holder, as required, will support the weekend rota and on calls to ensure hospital staff have access to expert support with end of life care over the 7 day week(approximately one weekend a month).
