Applications are invited for a full time (10 PA) general Haematologist with interest in Haemato-Oncology. This is a new post within an expanding team, focused on developing local Haematology services for rural West Dorset.
The successful candidate will become the 4th consultant joining an existing team of 3 haematologists, at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which is part of the One Dorset Network with Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic new colleague who will be able to specialise in a chosen area of malignant haematology and with an interest in the development of new trials. There is a 1 in 4 on call rota and a consultant attending system in place.
We work within the Dorset network and have weekly MDTs with Poole and Bournemouth. We have a specialist registrar from the Wessex rotation and currently have two clinical nurse specialists and hope to appoint a 3rd one soon. We also benefit from a fantastic admin team who help support this busy service.
The hospital is situated in Dorset in an area of outstanding natural beauty with spectacular countryside, beautiful beaches and easy access to the Purbecks. There are many excellent schools in and around Dorchester and it is an idyllic area to live.
It is essential that the post holder possesses MRCP and FRCPath (or equivalent). Experience in managing patients with haematological malignancies is essential and a good grounding in general haematology is also required to provide the liaison service during the on call.
We have a growing clinical trials team with excellent research possibilities and we are reopening level 2B care on Fortuneswell ward with the respective clinical trials.
