This is an exciting time for our staff, following a recent review of healthcare services in Dorset which will see major changes to the way healthcare is provided in our region. As one of the two acute NHS providers in the east of the county, our services will be closely linked to those provided at the Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We’re working in close collaboration to deliver excellent emergency and planned care over the two sites, for the people of east Dorset.
We are currently looking to appoint a part time receptionist/ward clerk who is professional, experienced and well-organised as part of a busy but varied job share position. 15 hours per week over Thursdays and Fridays. The role will be expected to help cover holidays and sickness for your job share colleague.
Forest Holme Hospice is a 12 bedded specialist palliative care unit at Poole Hospital. It is part of the Specialist Palliative Care Service which includes community and hospital teams, Family Support Service, Lymphoedema clinics, Complementary Therapies and Forest Holme Hospice Charity.
There are many visitors to Forest Holme on a daily basis so duties will include receiving all visitors, patients, relatives and colleagues to the unit with dignity and respect, maintaining a courteous, reassuring, sensitive and helpful manner at all times, especially when dealing with patients and their families / bereaved relatives who are extremely upset.
Duties also include admin and clerical support to the inpatient unit, Lymphoedema service, and the Family Support service, organising admissions, discharges and transfers, managing clinics, sending out appointment letters and answering the ward telephone. Experience of computer use, data input and using email is required. The role is varied and interesting.
Experience of working within a healthcare environment would be an advantage, although is not essential. The successful applicant must have good clerical skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and accurate computer skills.
