minimum of 12.75 hours per week

Queens Avenue Surgery is located close to the centre of Dorchester and to Dorset County Hospital.  We are based in a beautiful Victorian property which is well equipped and modernised but still manages to retain its period features.  We look after 8000 patients from Dorchester and the surrounding villages.

We have a team of 8 receptionists who provide an important first point of contact for our patients.  Excellent customer service and an empathetic approach is vital.  A good working knowledge of IT and proficient keyboard skills are important.  Training will be given on the use of our clinical system.

We have a vacancy for a minimum of 12.75 hours per week covering the following shifts:

Tuesday                    0830 - 1230

Thursday                  1200 - 1600

Friday                        1400 - 1845

Saturday mornings are covered on a 1 in 8 rota basis (this is temporarily on hold due to the pandemic).  There is also the opportunity to work additional hours at the Covid vaccine clinic but this is voluntary paid work and separate to this role.

The successful applicant should have the following attributes:

  • Friendly and approachable with a sense of humour.
  • Flexibility to work morning and afternoon shifts and to provide cover for holidays and sickness and on a Saturday morning.
  • Good IT skills
  • Able to work as part of a team and liaise appropriately with other healthcare professionals.
