Treatment Room Nurse - Queens Avenue Surgery

Posted: 1 week ago

Queens Avenue Surgery

Dependent on experience

14 hours per week over 2 or 3 days

Queens Avenue Surgery is located close to the centre of Dorchester and to Dorset County Hospital.  We are based in a beautiful Victorian property which is well equipped and modernised but still manages to retain its period features.  We look after 8000 patients from Dorchester and the surrounding villages.

We are expanding our nursing team to create a new post for a treatment room nurse to provide support to our 3 Practice Nurses and 2 HCAs for 14 hours per week over 2 or 3 days.  This role would suit a newly registered nurse or a returning nurse who is interested in developing a career within primary care and with a view to increasing their commitment in the future.  Experience of working in general practice is preferable but not essential as training will be provided.

Your duties will include wound care, venepuncture, seasonal vaccinations, ECGs, ear care, BPs, Urinalysis, health promotion and screening.  You will also be expected to provide nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team.  There is also the opportunity to work additional hours at the Covid vaccine clinic but this is voluntary paid work and separate to this role.

We are a friendly and supportive team who work closely together and collaboratively with local providers and practices to provide high standards of patient care to 8000 patients.  We are a training practice with 6 Partners, 1 Salaried GP and a GP Registrar.
