Trust grade
The post holder will gain valuable experience in their specific specialty and will be allocated a Consultant mentor. This has helped Doctors to get onto training programs in the past.
Specialty doctor
The post holder will complement existing services linked to their specialty. The post holder is expected to provide demonstrable expertise in their chosen field and deliver a high quality independent service or manage complex cases with minimal reference to a Consultant. We have a lead Doctor for this who is linked to the deanery and leads on training and development for Specialty Doctors.
Junior doctor
Health Education England (Wessex), draws on the diverse opportunities available within this broad healthcare community to deliver to you many varied and innovative options for training . These include training opportunities in all mainstream medical and surgical specialties plus some not so commonly seen in the foundation programme. For example, there are options in F1 in some hospitals to undertake Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, or in F2 General Practice posts you can also gain experience in other areas including Public Health and Medical Education.
If you are considering an academic route there is a wide range of programmes available including Child Health and Clinical Science & Biomedical Engineering.
