At Dorset HealthCare we’re on a mission to empower people to make the most of their lives through our outstanding, joined-up healthcare services. We’re a dynamic, forward-looking Trust, running 12 community hospitals, specialist inpatient facilities and a wide range of integrated community and mental health services for a population of almost 800,000 people.

We like to do things differently here – it’s one of the reasons the CQC rated us ‘outstanding’ in 2019. It’s also why 95% of patients across our services say they have a good or very good experience of our services and 89% of staff feel they can really make a difference. Whether you’re looking to work with us in one of our bustling market towns, a vibrant urban location, thriving seaside spot, or the among the rolling hills of a stunning rural setting, there are a lot of ways you can make a difference in our local communities.

Our 7,000-strong workforce is at the heart of what we do and our success is a testament to our brilliant people. We're all about building a workplace for the future – we believe in equal opportunities and we celebrate diversity. We’re an inclusive workplace, where everyone is welcome, everyone can be authentic, and we are all encouraged to be the best version of ourselves.

Working with us you’ll be part of a strong team. You’ll challenge yourself, build a career, and teach us what we don’t know. And you’ll be working towards our vision to be better every day through excellence, compassion and expertise in all we do.

Want to join an innovative team with a strong focus on staff wellbeing, achieving good recovery rates, and pioneering pathways in multiple areas including LTC, employment support, Counselling, secondary care? Do you want to work in a town with beautiful coastline, some of Britain's best beaches, and stunning national parks? If so, why not join the Dorset Steps to Wellbeing Service as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP). This is an exciting opportunity to join a Low Intensity Team in Bournemouth or Poole.

You must have either a Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity CBT with IAPT PWP status or an MSci Applied Psychology (Clinical) qualification to apply for this post.

Dorset Steps to Wellbeing is a busy, dynamic, and progressive service with a friendly and supportive team of qualified clinicians and staff in training. The role itself is both demanding and rewarding; providing psychological interventions to people with mild to moderate common mental health problems in primary care.

As part of the national IAPT expansion to fulfil the requirements of the Five Year Forward View, Dorset Steps to Wellbeing has been part of the exciting long term health conditions expansion since 2017, and as such has excellent training opportunities.

Applicants therefore must have a Post Graduate Certificate in Evidence Based Psychological Therapies (IAPT); be proficient in the delivery of CBT based guided self-help interventions; and have experience of working with common mental health problems in a primary care setting.

Don’t just take our word for it though, a recent testimonial from a member of the team had this to say about the Steps to Wellbeing Service:

“I was surprised by how organised and calm everything felt. The PWP role can be stressful at times but I no longer felt the extra pressure I had felt in my previous service; mainly due to the fact that Steps 2 Wellbeing is managed well and there is strong leadership. The regular supervision means that I have felt supported and given a chance to share any concerns I have which are always taken seriously. This allowed me to actually enjoy my job again and remember why I trained in the first place.

On a more personal level the team at Steps 2 Wellbeing are incredibly welcoming and kind. It makes a big difference to have someone supportive to talk to following a difficult appointment or even just someone to make you a cup of tea if you’re behind on your admin. Even though everyone in the team takes their work seriously there is a light hearted atmosphere in the office that allows a chance to de-stress after intense appointments.

I would highly recommend working at Steps 2 Wellbeing as the experience of working in an IAPT service can vary and this is definitely the most positive experience I have had.”

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
