We are looking for an experienced clinical Occupational Therapist; with a clinical interest in frailty; to join the therapy clinical leadership team in the Older People’s Services Therapy Team at University Hospital Dorset, (Poole Site).

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a new permanent, full time Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist, specialising in the needs of older people and frail vulnerable adults within the older people’s wards and ‘Front of House’ areas - Emergency Department, and older people assessment units at Poole Hospital. We are extremely proud of our service and specialty and hope to inspire you to come and join our team.

This is a fantastic opportunity where you will be encouraged and supported to develop your existing extended skills and advanced practice in frailty with our highly regarded, innovative and motivated frailty and admission avoidance team. You will be supported to develop quality improvement skills and lead projects to develop the service so it is fit for the future. You will work with other Clinical Specialist Therapists across UHD as part of a collaborative leadership model to support the whole team more widely.

This role will have a strong clinical focus and as such we are looking for a confident clinician who can develop skills within the team. This post holder will also need to build close links with the multidisciplinary team to ensure we continue to deliver excellent care to older people and develop expertise in our workforce beyond therapy.

The role will include line management of staff and the post holder will also have an opportunity to develop people management skills and will need organisational, communication and management skills.

This is an ideal opportunity for you to positively influence patient care if you have:

  • Clinical expertise working with older people with complex needs
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Motivation to develop services putting the patient first

This post includes 7 day working and therefore the post holder will be expected to participate in weekend working and alternative shift patterns. The post holder must be a car driver and ideally will have access to a car for work purposes.
