University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust

£40,057- £45,839 pa/pro rata

Permanent

We recently went into partnership with Bournemouth University and, with the merger of Poole Hospital and Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts, became University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust this is a really exciting time to join us!

Our ambitious multi-million pound plans to develop our sites are well underway, including developing RBH as the major acute and emergency hospital in East Dorset, PH as the major planned care hospital, and ambitious plans for Christchurch to support on-going patient treatment.

Joining UHD gives you the opportunity to enjoy all that Dorset has to offer. Bournemouth is a vibrant university town , and Poole has a large natural harbour and is perfect for water sports or relaxing at a quayside restaurant.

With both the New Forest and Isle of Purbeck on our doorstep, over 7 miles of stunning sandy beaches and coastal paths, we are located within an area of amazing beauty providing a great place for you to achieve your rewarding work life balance.

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced research professional to join the University Hospitals Dorset research team. The role will primarily be leading and supporting NIHR Division 2 research studies, which includes:

  • Cardiovascular
  • Diabetes
  • Metabolic and Endocrine
  • Renal Disorders
  • Stroke

The role will be based across both Bournemouth and Poole sites, where there is a large portfolio of commercial and non-commercial research. We are really lucky that all areas of this portfolio have engaged health care professions who are keen to deliver research studies and ensure patients are involved in research.

The research post would suit an individual who is experienced in research delivery and leading a team. Experience in one of the therapeutic areas would be advantageous but is not essential. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, be an effective communicator, a team player and be confident in making decisions.

The role will usually be office hours Monday to Friday, however some antisocial hours and weekend working is required. Working at night is not anticipated.

Your main role will be to:

  • Manage a team of research delivery staff across Bournemouth and Poole site
  • Assess feasibility of new studies and ensure that there is capacity within the team to deliver the studies to time and target
  • Ensure that studies are set up in a safe and deliverable way - specifically that tasks are risk assessed, recruitment plans are clear and the team are conducting their delegated responsibilities in compliance with ICH GCP and applicable regulations
  • Monitor the performance of each study in the portfolio and take action when required to improve recruitment rates
  • Maintain high standards of GCP compliance in all areas

You will work alongside other Senior Research Nurses/midwives/AHPs and be supported by the Lead Research Nurse, along with a host of research professionals to work alongside. Training needs will be identified at the start of the post and as the post progresses.

We ideally require full time working, but part time hours (30 hours/week) will be considered for the right candidate.

Informal visits are highly encouraged prior to applying.
