At Dorset HealthCare we’re on a mission to empower people to make the most of their lives through our outstanding, joined-up healthcare services. We’re a dynamic, forward-looking Trust, running 12 community hospitals, specialist inpatient facilities and a wide range of integrated community and mental health services for a population of almost 800,000 people.

We like to do things differently here – it’s one of the reasons the CQC rated us ‘outstanding’ in 2019. It’s also why 95% of patients across our services say they have a good or very good experience of our services and 89% of staff feel they can really make a difference. Whether you’re looking to work with us in one of our bustling market towns, a vibrant urban location, thriving seaside spot, or the among the rolling hills of a stunning rural setting, there are a lot of ways you can make a difference in our local communities.

Our 7,000-strong workforce is at the heart of what we do and our success is a testament to our brilliant people. We're all about building a workplace for the future – we believe in equal opportunities and we celebrate diversity. We’re an inclusive workplace, where everyone is welcome, everyone can be authentic, and we are all encouraged to be the best version of ourselves.

Working with us you’ll be part of a strong team. You’ll challenge yourself, build a career, and teach us what we don’t know. And you’ll be working towards our vision to be better every day through excellence, compassion and expertise in all we do.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly expanded service.

We are looking to recruit a full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work as part of the East Dorset Assertive Outreach Team. The post will be based at Hahnemann House, Bournemouth.

Consideration will also be given to Band 5 Occupational Therapist's with minimal experience who would be interested in a development opportunity; working with the Lead Occupational Therapist to meet the set competencies for the Band 6 in a timely way.

Assertive Outreach Teams work with people with serious and complex mental health problems who find it difficult to engage with traditional services such as CMHT’s.

Assertive Outreach Teams work in a responsive way to provide stability in a person’s life and help them to develop meaningful occupation alongside managing the symptoms of their mental illness. The work requires a great deal of focus and creativity and at times can be challenging.

There is no expectation to work as care coordinator; the focus of this role is on providing specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for the team.

The role is professionally supported by the Lead Occupational Therapist for Mental Health Rehabilitation.

This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate your ability, whilst continually improving services, with excellent openings for personal and professional development whilst actively promoting the development and implementation of evidence based practice.

If you are flexible, recovery focused, self-motivated with good communication and organisational skills this is a chance for you to join our team.

The Assertive Outreach Team East covers the areas of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole; therefore the ability to drive your own vehicle is
essential.

The post is full-time and the service operates Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00. Occasionally team members will need to work outside of these
hours; however there are no plans to extend the service to 7 days per week.
