We are looking to recruit Trainee Psychological Therapists (High Intensity CBT Therapists) across Dorset and Southampton within our Steps 2 Wellbeing service.

The successful candidates will undertake a 12 month training course at the University of Southampton. During this time, you will be trained to provide High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural therapy within a stepped care model for adults with common mental health problems, including depression and a range of anxiety disorders. You will be required to attend training at the University two days a week and working with a caseload of patients within service three days a week. We are looking for people with energy, enthusiasm, and a high level of skills and experience. All staff will work as part of a team, receive regular clinical supervision and be able to access CPD. It is expected that you would need to relocate for this post.

Our Dorset and Southampton Steps 2 Wellbeing services is recognised as one of the best IAPT services nationally. We are located in a beautiful part of the world with the Jurassic coast, pretty countryside with rolling hills and great urban centres all with excellent communication links. As we continue to expand our provision of psychological therapy we have several vacancies for high intensity CBT trainee therapists across Dorset* and Southampton.

Steps 2 Wellbeing service is innovative and is passionate about supporting therapists in delivering evidenced based psychological therapies. We have an excellent all-inclusive CPD package where 12 full days of training and clinical skills sessions are delivered by world renown experts annually. In addition we promote opportunities for career development by offering regular long-term health conditions training, Eye Movement Desensitisation Repossessing therapy (EMDR), Mindfulness, Interpersonal therapy (IPT), Couples Behavioural Therapy and Radically Open Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (RO DBT) and supervision training.

Trainees can work flexibly, and we offer a combination of face to face and remote work. The successful candidate will provide one to one and group high intensity CBT within a stepped care model for adults with common mental health problems, including depression and a range of anxiety disorders. We provide regular clinical supervision in a variety of formats to support you.

On completion of the course, trainees progress to a period of supported preceptorship. This offers enhanced supervision, peer support meetings, and a reduced and triaged caseload. The Preceptorship will normally last 8 months and when complete leads to a permanent Band 7 post. On completion of the preceptorship applicants are expected to complete long-term health conditions training. Occasionally qualified staff working in the Southampton location will be required to work Saturdays.
