Self Emp Personal Assistant Bournemouth (RESPITE COVER 21 DAYS PER YEAR)

About the Role:

We are looking for a self-employed Personal Care Assistant to provide support to a young woman who has been diagnosed with Smith-Kingsmore syndrome with an mTOR gene mutation, Diabetes Mellitus, Macrocephaly with a severe learning disability, Endometriosis, Autoimmune Hypothyroidism, Angiokeratomas who requires support and prompting with daily tasks.

She has always lived at home with her mother and their pets. She likes most animals, apart from birds in cages. She is very outgoing, however is extremely vulnerable (no sense of stranger danger). She enjoys beauty treatments, swimming, riding her tricycle, sticky mosaics, loom bands, being read short stories, listening to music, and watching Cbeebies. She has a phobia of people coughing, blowing noses, or sneezing that will provoke an extreme reaction.

We are looking for someone who can cover respite 21 days per year. Days/times to be flexible and can be discussed further.

Main Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Ensure hygiene needs are being met, which will involve running a bath, helping with washing hair, prompting her to properly wash and dry her body. Cleaning her teeth. Helping when needed with dressing, ensuring the clothes are weather appropriate and clean.
  • Ensuring her medication is taken, monitoring her blood glucose levels, liaising with her mother as to the amount of insulin required before meals and bed, and then preparing insulin injector/syringes with the appropriate dose of insulin.
  • Preparing meals.
  • Supporting and ensuring her safety at all times.
  • Visiting places of interest where appropriate. Ideal Candidate:
  • Previous PA experience in a similar role preferable however not essential.
  • Must be kind and patient, enjoy socialising, and be reliable
  • Confident to be directive as and when required
  • Full, valid driving license
  • DBS Check will be required
  • Legally Able to Work in UK
  • Provide evidence of self-employment such as Public Liability Insurance, Terms and Conditions, tax reference number.
