We recently went into partnership with Bournemouth University and, with the merger of Poole Hospital and Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts, became University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust this is a really exciting time to join us!

Our ambitious multi-million pound plans to develop our sites are well underway, including developing RBH as the major acute and emergency hospital in East Dorset, PH as the major planned care hospital, and ambitious plans for Christchurch to support on-going patient treatment.

Joining UHD gives you the opportunity to enjoy all that Dorset has to offer. Bournemouth is a vibrant university town , and Poole has a large natural harbour and is perfect for water sports or relaxing at a quayside restaurant.

With both the New Forest and Isle of Purbeck on our doorstep, over 7 miles of stunning sandy beaches and coastal paths, we are located within an area of amazing beauty providing a great place for you to achieve your rewarding work life balance.

Do you have a passion for caring for others?

If so maybe you should consider beginning your NHS career as a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW)?

No previous experience is needed as we provide the all training required and support you need through the care certificate and our bespoke full induction, and beyond, with mentors on the wards to help you reach your potential and help provide our patients with first class care.

Our HCSWs are invaluable to the trust and key in the ward and departmental teams. You would be working within a group of people who are caring, compassionate and inclusive. Some days will be challenging, but you will be supported and the benefits will outweigh the challenges. We also believe in “growing our own” and support progression pathways to Staff Nurse training applications.

We are offering full time and part time hours but we are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and as such we require everyone to be able to be fully flexible across all shift patterns, including weekdays, weekends, nights and bank holidays.

We are currently looking to recruit to inpatient wards at Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals, these are permanent positions within the medical/surgical/Trauma/Oncology and older Persons Services directorates. If you have a preference of site or area please state this in the support evidence.

As part of the selection process you will be required to complete and numeracy and literacy assessment alongside an interview (this could be electronically). You also have to be over the age of 18yrs to apply.

We are unable to accept those who need sponsorship to work in this role due to the governments guideline’s.

Assessment/Interview Date: 20th April 2022
