Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust
£25,655 - £31,534 p.a., pro rata for part-time
At Dorset HealthCare we’re on a mission to empower people to make the most of their lives through our outstanding, joined-up healthcare services. We’re a dynamic, forward-looking Trust, running 12 community hospitals, specialist inpatient facilities and a wide range of integrated community and mental health services for a population of almost 800,000 people.
We like to do things differently here – it’s one of the reasons the CQC rated us ‘outstanding’ in 2019. It’s also why 95% of patients across our services say they have a good or very good experience of our services and 89% of staff feel they can really make a difference. Whether you’re looking to work with us in one of our bustling market towns, a vibrant urban location, thriving seaside spot, or the among the rolling hills of a stunning rural setting, there are a lot of ways you can make a difference in our local communities.
Our 7,000-strong workforce is at the heart of what we do and our success is a testament to our brilliant people. We're all about building a workplace for the future – we believe in equal opportunities and we celebrate diversity. We’re an inclusive workplace, where everyone is welcome, everyone can be authentic, and we are all encouraged to be the best version of ourselves.
Working with us you’ll be part of a strong team. You’ll challenge yourself, build a career, and teach us what we don’t know. And you’ll be working towards our vision to be better every day through excellence, compassion and expertise in all we do.
Providing healthcare as close to home as possible is central to the way we do things in Dorset – and community nurses are right at the heart of that.
Supporting elderly, disabled and vulnerable people to stay independent in their own homes is a real privilege and we need more Band 5 Registered General Nurses to help provide this vital service.
Working in communities across the beautiful county of Dorset, our nurses provide person-centred care, getting to know not just the patients but also their families, friends, neighbours and even pets!
Managing a specialist caseload entailing acute and chronic nursing needs, you’ll be able to develop strong, therapeutic relationships with your patients and work closely with community partners to achieve the best possible health outcomes.
Working alongside District Nurses, you’ll be confident in identifying care needs, monitoring patients’ conditions and recording observations based on care plans.
You’ll support people to maintain their wellbeing and independence, helping to avoid unnecessary admission to hospital.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to develop their nursing skillset and make a real difference for local people.
In return we offer a fantastic induction programme, flexible family-friendly working patterns and pastoral support. There are excellent learning and development opportunities, both in-house and through our links with local universities, and the option of a preceptorship programme for newly qualified nurses to boost your skill development.
Full and part-time hours are available and we welcome applications from student nurses close to qualifying.
We would welcome applications from newly qualified nurses and we provide a very comprehensive and fully supported Preceptorship Programme for newly qualified healthcare professionals.
