X-ray rooms & Examinations

Poole Hospital X-ray department is a completely digital radiography (DR). Our general rooms have a mixture of Samsung and Fuji DR. Mobile examinations are performed using a mix Carestream, Samsung and Philips DR.

Education & CPD

In Poole X-ray department, we offer all new starters a structured program focusing on three core developments;

Initial Induction----- Preceptorship Program

(6 month program) (18-24 month program)

The Preceptorship provides radiographers the opportunity to undertake a structured program of self-development in all aspects of the X-ray including audit, equipment and techniques. This is actively supported by in-house run CPD sessions and the opportunity to attend external training/learning events. Poole radiology is very pro-active endorsing CPD, with a number of education events supported by the department available for staff to enrol on.

The radiology department supports university placements for training student radiographers, with intakes from both Exeter and Portsmouth Universities.

As part of merger between Poole & Bournemouth Trusts, an expectation of cross site working when required will be part of the role.
